For Men Only….

No, this blog is not entirely for men. I think everyone who is in a relationship should read this.

I encountered this page, A Husband’s personal checklist of ways that husbands typically offend their wives.  I stopped. It made me think and evaluate myself as a future wife as well.

I do not know everything and I am not perfect at all. Reading and asking help can enpower me to become a better person. I hope you can pick one or two things which you can improve on.

When everyting else fails, love remains.

Buttermilk

Having a hard time looking for buttermilk each time you want to make your Red Velvet Cake? No worries…

You just need to add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to 1 cup of milk…let it rest for at least 10 minutes before using….

tadaaahhh! You now have your buttermilk! :)

This is me…Pie

I have always wanted to be a Chef, I always told my mom.

When I was a child, I usually go with her in the market (palengke). I love that feeling even if my feet gets all dirty and I even if i have to endure the smell of the fish market! I am much as excited whenever I assist her with the cooking preparations.

I watched her do what she does best – cooking. Yes, my Mom is one of the reasons why I know how to cook and bake.  She is also my inspiration.  I am also an avid reader of food blogs.

I found myself at the happiest when I am baking or cooking. Even if  I get back pains, it is all worth it. I know that this is what I want. This is what I love. This is where I belong. This is me…Pie.

This year, I have decided to enroll on a formal class.  I am taking Certificate in Culinary Techniques – Patisserie at International Centre for Culinary Arts in Dubai.  I have to take one step at a time. This is only half of the Culinary Program. I have to save again to enroll myself for the Cookery Class :)

Since I lived here in UAE, my Friday means getting out of bed late, all day watching movies, eating out and relaxing.

This January 2012, it TOTALLY changed. Now, Friday means getting up as early as 5:30am to prepare going to Dubai. Bus leaves at 7:am. My class starts at 9:30am and ends at 4:30 pm. And then i have to rushed back to the Bus station going back to Abu Dhabi.

Life is Good! I am truly blessed.

For the meantime, I am sharing some photos of our baked goodies. Enjoy! :)

Chinese Proverb

Today, I recall one of the Chinese Proverbs I learned from my Mandarin class. It is true in my life.

Embrace pain until it no longer hurts – Lao Tzu

And there will come a time, that pain is so bearable that you no longer feel it. And you find happiness.

Tweet.kuyakim.coelho.

Tonight, while watching ASAP on TFC channel I had the time to check on my tweeter account. I reviewed my previous tweets and i found a new me!! Wow! Gone are the days of ranting.

Here is my little secret. The reason i created my tweeter account is to make it as my personal outlet..to voice out my emotions- those that i can not post on facebook. Those little secret and emotions that i can not share. This became my little journal.

Later on, this space became a learning tool for me. Kuya Kim became my companion. He might not have a single clue about it, but each time i learned something new from his trivia, i make sure that i share it with my friends over lunch. He is also sweet, and he would find time to send dms to his followers.

I am also a follower of Paulo Coelho, from his books to all his tweets. He is simply brilliant.

The only rule that i have here in my account is — to block or unfollow bashers.

Thank you tweeter, you just made me realize that i am better now. I have stopped asking. I am on a state of my life that i am at peace. Proof is on my tweets ;) Rants are over!

Thank you, tweeter!

Thank you, God ;) You really know how to make a way.

Sweet n low n fresh ;)

I tried baking a sponge cake for the first time. I used artificial sweetener as a replacement to the regular white sugar, this is an experiment if this will be possible and if it would still have the same volume and consistency of a normal sponge cake.

Making a sponge cake was a challenge for me coz it involves more baking techniques. To keep it light and fresh, I added fresh fruits (melon, kiwi and strawberries) and cream chantilly in 2 layers! Although, the expected volume and the “spongy” feel was not there, the end result was pretty good!

Eat and be happy!
